Location: Chili, NY
This Genesee Land Trust nature preserve is located 18 minutes southwest of Rochester, NY. According to their website, Brookdale Preserve ” contains wooded wetlands, an open wet-meadow, and hardwood uplands. The Preserve is home to a Floodplain forest which is a rare ecological community in New York State and one of the only examples in Monroe County.” We walked the main trail to the pond which included some of the trail through a wooded area with a small boardwalk and then walking along a mown utility right-of-way. The ground was uneven and grassy, and would not be considered stroller friendly. The “seasonal trail” shown in the map below was too overgrown so we returned the way we came. There were some pretty wildflowers and lots of wildlife – we saw a heron and many other birds, tons of frogs and snakes.
