Stony Brook State Park – Gorge Trail

Location: Dansville, NY

This beautiful trail is located in a state park located one hour south of Rochester, NY. It features beautiful creek views and waterfalls. There are benches, a designated swimming area, campground, beautiful bridges, clean restrooms, and more! The Gorge Trail does have many stairs and is therefore not stroller friendly.

We hiked the Gorge Trail – about 0.7 miles in and then retraced our steps back out (this can also be made into a loop with the West Rim Trail, but that includes some steep sections of stairs that we decided to skip!) The trail starts by a beautiful and new bathroom area, picnic tables, a designated swimming area with a lifeguard, and a “Bears” brand playground for ages 5-12. We really enjoyed hiking the trail along the Brook with many waterfalls, both big and small, and beautiful bridges! There were signs saying “Public Prohibited from Entering Streambed” so be sure to stay on the designated trail.
