Location: Rochester, NY
This historic cemetery is located in the City of Rochester, NY. I parked near the “1912 Chapel” at the Mt Hope Entrance. There is network of roads and paths throughout the cemetery. Some of it is paved and stroller friendly but some of the paths are dirt and have steps and uneven ground. You can stop to see the resting places of Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, and other historical figures from the Rochester area. There is also a pond that is a breeding ground for salamanders and frogs in the spring!
The cemetery is beautiful in the fall. I also visited in spring to check out the Daffodil Project. There are 35,000 daffodils planted at the kettle near the fountain. These daffodils were planted by a local man named Bill Whitney along with volunteers. This area can be seen by car, or can be reached by walking the roads and paths.
Note: The cemetery is an active burial place and continues to perform burials almost daily. Please be respectful and follow these Guidelines When Visiting Mount Hope.
Keep all dogs leashed and on walkways and roadways, only, and clean up after your dog. Dogs are not allowed to be in Sylvan Waters or the fountain.
