Location: Akron, NY
This beautiful waterfall is located 1 hour west of Rochester, NY just outside of Buffalo. It was about 0.1 mile each way to the lookout over the falls and about 0.2 miles each way if you add in the hike down to the base of the falls. The trail was pretty narrow with an incline and steep dropoffs (not stroller friendly), so please be careful especially in the winter when the snow and ice are slippery.
When we got down near the base of the falls there was a sign that said “no entry beyond this point violators will be prosecuted” (see photo below). We decided to be good and not go past this sign, though I have seen photos from very close to the waterfall – so perhaps this sign is temporary for the winter.
The park has an accessible playground near the park entrance and a traditional playground under some evergreen trees across the street from the waterfall hike.
