Location: Orchard Park, NY
This magical trail is located 1.5 hours west of Rochester, NY near Buffalo. After parking in the large parking lot, we started walking down the flat gravel trail with a few benches. The trail then enters a beautiful pine forest. There are numbered flame signs on trees along the way, so no need to wonder if you’re on the right track. Eventually the trail reaches a lot of wooden steps going town into the ravine. At about 0.4 miles into the hike, the trail takes a sharp left turn and then goes alongside the creek. At times we had to walk IN the creek, so be sure to have proper footwear that can get wet and can handle slippery rock conditions. After another 0.2 miles or so, you reach the waterfall. The eternal flame was amazing, set into a little carved out part of the rocks behind the waterfall. The roundtrip hike is 1.2 miles total with a lot of stairs. There are many signs to stay on the designated trails and there are steep drop offs, so beware.
