Genesee County Park & Forest – Plantation Trail

Location: East Bethany, NY

This beautiful trail is located 45 minutes west of Rochester, NY. It is a 0.5 mile loop through several tree plantations planted throughout the late 1960’s. Larch, Norway Spruce, Red Pine, and White Pine. In some areas the trees are planted in perfect rows which is beautiful to look at! A section of the trail travels by a large open wetland and would be great for birdwatching. There is also a bridge along the trail and some informational signs.

This trail can be done as a loop by parking in the lot in the northeast corner of the park near the playground and pavilions. However, this road was closed when we visited in February. Another way to reach this trail is connecting it to other trails – such as the General Conservation Trail or the Forestry Trail – starting at the interpretive center parking area. This parking lot was paved and the interpretive center was open in February. See the trail map below!

Trail surface and accessibility are unknown to me because the trail was covered in snow, but the trail is likely NOT stroller friendly. Leashed dogs are allowed. The interpretive center has restrooms when open and there is a porta potty across the street from the interpretive center. There are also seasonal restrooms near the playground in the northeast corner of the park.
