Harris Whalen Park

Location: Penfield, NY

This park is located 15 minutes east of Rochester, NY. We started at the playground that had a few older metal structures and a more modern structure with slides and a bridge. We then hiked along the winding network of short trails through the woods. The full loop consisting of the East Loop Trail and West Loop Trail is 0.7 miles, but the hikes could be made shorter or longer by using other trails (see map below). The trails are not stroller friendly. Leashed dogs are allowed, bikes are not allowed.

There is a water tower here, sports fields, tennis courts, a sledding hill, and restrooms. The trails are supposed to be great for spring wildflowers in May, but I have not visited during that time yet!
