Location: Rush, NY
We took a beautiful October morning hike at the hundred Acres Nature Park located 20 minutes southwest of Rochester, NY. There was a small gravel parking lot with a sign that looks like it fell over. We walked the grassy path through the fields and saw many new trees growing. This path led us to some beautiful views of the Genesee River with some benches to stop and rest. We then continued the path north and entered a beautiful forest area with more river views through the trees. This path eventually led us to a railroad track and a tunnel under the tracks. I am not sure what the trails lead to on the other side of the railroad tracks.
This park has been transformed by volunteers who planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs and have cultivated five acres of native pollinators. You can read more about these efforts here: Genesee Valley PennySaver.
I could not find a trail map or an AllTrails page for this hike! The map below shows my own personal route, which led through some fields, along the Genesee River, and then led to the old growth forest at the north end. As you can see, there are other paths you could take in this nature park to extend the hike!
