Location: Bemus Point, NY
This park is located in Chautauqua County – 2.5 hours southwest of Rochester, NY and 1.5 hours south of Buffalo. Long Point, which juts into Lake Chautauqua, is one of the moraines left by a retreating glacier long ago. A highlight of the park is the Point Trail or Minturn Trail, which both go through the woods to the tip of the peninsula, where you can view the lake on all sides. You can make a short ~1 mile loop with these two trails, where you will find picnic tables and benches at scenic spots along the trail as well as informational signs. The trail is flat and stone dust, and is probably stroller friendly. It’s a beautiful spot to watch a sunset!
The rest of the park includes a swimming beach and bathhouse, playgrounds, hiking, biking, reserve-able picnic pavilions, public boat launch and marina. There are many other trails in this park as well.
