Location: Mendon/Pittsford, NY
This beautiful trail is located in Mendon Ponds Park, 20 minutes south of Rochester, NY. According to the park website, Devil’s Bathtub Trail is a loop and is described as a ”easy 0.67 mile walk with one steep climb and stair and boardwalk sections.” It has a small viewing platform with benches overlooking the pond (which is a kettle created by glacial activity).
We parked at the Devil’s Bathtub shelter and walked down the steps and dirt trail to Devil’s Bathtub. Then we continued along the boardwalks and dirt trail and made a clockwise loop along Deep Pond, past the Algonkian shelter, past a pine tree grove, and up the steep hill back to our vehicle. However, the stairs and hill could be avoided by parking near the Algonkian shelter and hiking counterclockwise to Devil’s Bathtub, and then turning around and returning the same way, rather than making a loop.
