Location: Pittsford, NY
The fish hatchery is located 15 minutes southeast of Rochester, NY. This is a nice spot to walk around to see the fish, feed them, or just enjoy the park. There are machines to buy fish food for a quarter. Be sure to read all of the signs and follow directions. There are no fences or guard rails around the fish pools or ponds, so be careful with children there.
Near the fish pools are several ponds. There are benches, a viewing deck, and lots of pretty trees. We saw ducks, toads, and deer. In April, the pink blossoms are beautiful. Several trails can be accessed from here including the Ridge Trail which connects to the Trillium Trail, the Hatchery Trail, and the Meadow Trail. This area is stroller friendly but the trails nearby may not be. Leashed dogs are allowed in Powder Mills Park.
