Location: Mendon / Honeoye Falls, NY
This nature reserve located 30 minutes south of Rochester has meadows and wildflowers, beautiful wooded areas, creek access, and a prominent drumlin with wonderful views over the area. We parked one at the trailhead at the end of Gravel Ln (it’s a large cul-de-sac). We hiked the grass path through the meadows to the top of the drumlin which was about a quarter mile up with a slight incline. At the top there was a tree tunnel and a bench, we continued along the path to the beautiful overlook viewpoint with several more benches. There were beautiful meadows with wildflowers and butterflies. We continued along the path around the top of the hill and then headed back down. We then took the roughly half mile trail (each way) downhill to Honeoye Creek. This went through some beautiful and peaceful woods where we saw a deer! There were more meadows at the bottom of the hill and then we use AllTrails to find our way to the creek access. It was a very beautiful and peaceful spot. There is also apparently a crushed stone parking area off of plains road, but I didn’t check this out.
Sibleyville Nature Reserve is historically significant to the Indigenous Peoples of the area. Read more about this here.
