Location: Sterling, NY
This nature park is located 1.25 hours east of Rochester, NY along the shore of Lake Ontario. This hike leads to the most beautiful view of bluffs high above Lake Ontario. We parked at the end of McIntyre Road and walked the path a quarter mile to the “eagle’s view” of Lake Ontario from the top of McIntyre’s Bluff. There were beautiful wildflower meadows. The trail can also be accessed from the lakeshore or Buttonbush Trail.
The trail is narrow and is a mix of gravel and grass. It is not stroller friendly. Leashed dogs are allowed.
Note: There are STEEP dropoffs with no fence or barrier. Be very careful.
Rules (from the Official Website):
- Wheeled vehicles are NOT allowed on trails, and snowmobiles are only allowed on the designated trail.
- NO picking or collecting of plants, berries, flowers, fungi, or other features.
- NO hunting or firearms are allowed within the Sterling Preserve.
- Swimming is prohibited, and lifeguards are not provided.
- Please do not climb on the bluffs.
