Thomas Creek Wetland Walk

Location: Fairport, NY

This is a really lovely wetland walk located in the village of Fairport located 20 minutes east of Rochester. We parked in the small gravel lot at the end of Liftbridge Lane. First we visited the interactive sundial, where you stand on a brick with the current month, put your arms above your head, and your shadow shows the time! My kids thought this was super cool and so did I — I’m glad we visited on a sunny day! There was also a pollinator garden there, which would be beautiful in the spring and summer to look for butterflies. We walked the short (~0.1 mile) boardwalk loop that connects to a stone dust trail. We then continued down this path and stopped at the really neat viewing platform (which is supposedly only open seasonally), then walked about 0.2 miles or so (forgot to actually measure the distance!) to make a loop with the Canalway trail along the Erie Canal back to the parking lot (but this could be skipped and you could return on the wetland trail or could be continued into the Village of Fairport. Overall this was an accessible and pretty trail.
