Location: Penfield, NY
This trail is located 15 minutes east of Rochester, NY. We hiked along the 0.4 mile main trail (Founders Way) and also checked out the 0.2 mile Boardwalk Loop. The boardwalks through marshlands were absolutely beautiful with some benches to stop and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The trails continue to Way Pond but we did not make it that far! Dogs and bikes are not allowed. I would not consider this trail stroller friendly due to narrow boardwalks and mud in places.
🛑Thousand Acre Swamp is open during hunting season. Be sure to check official websites, read all posted signs, and take necessary precautions (including but not limited to wearing blaze orange and other bright colors, staying on the designated trails, etc) during hunting season
